Presentation Le Clos Cassivet “Montée des Eyssares” 2014 Red - Gérard Delus

Merlot , Mourvèdre and Syrah , here is an original blend for this deliciously atypical red wine from Provence ! The color is deep dark garnet. On the nose, this Clos Cassivet “Montée des Eyssares” 2014 Red develops aromas of ripe black fruits, scrubland, cocoa, liquorice and sweet spice. The palate is both powerful and creamy, enveloping the aromas present on the nose in silky tannins. Very pleasant to drink today, the most patient will be able to enjoy this vintage for at least 20 more years! Gérard Delus creates a magnificent Clos Cassivet red that stands out from the standards of Provence wines. A real favorite !

History of the estate

It is in Trans En Provence, near Draguignan, that Gérard Delus , son of a farmer from Dauphiné, chose to cultivate 5 hectares of old vines going against the grain of all his neighbors (the classified growth of Provence). His estate, Clos Cassivet , was born in 1980, bearing the name of the place where it is located and benefiting from a micro climate and an ideal terroir. Gérard Delus cultivates there, without inputs, as naturally as possible (without certification) various grape varieties from the most classic like Mourvèdre or Vermentino to the most unexpected in the region like Merlot or Chenin ! It is with this free spirit that this artisan winemaker, a bit of a poet, produces the wines of Clos Cassivet without any inputs apart from doses of sulphites well below the threshold of Biodynamics. In short, healthy and natural wines, with a strong personality, very different from one vintage to another, and which know how to age wonderfully... An area to discover urgently!
