Presentation Le Clos Cassivet “Under the Well of Manon” 2018 White - Gérard Delus

An atypical blend for this extraordinary white wine from Provence! If you think that Provence is only capable of producing fresh and light white and rosé wines without personality, you will be surprised by this UFO full of life and character! The color is straw yellow with gold highlights. The very confusing nose develops powerful aromas of honey, white flowers, candied citrus fruits and bourbon vanilla. On the palate, we find all the complexity and aromatic power of the nose in a material full of energy softened by a fatty and brioche side. We can say that this Clos Cassivet “Sous le Puits de Manon” 2018 White does not lack personality, like its winemaker Gérard Delus ! White wine to keep.

At the beginning of 2020 the winemaker changed the label, but the wine remains the same!

History of the estate

It is in Trans En Provence, near Draguignan, that Gérard Delus , son of a farmer from Dauphiné, chose to cultivate 5 hectares of old vines going against the grain of all his neighbors (the classified growth of Provence). His estate, Clos Cassivet, was born in 1980, bearing the name of the place where it is located and benefiting from an ideal microclimate and terroir. Gérard Delus cultivates there, without inputs, as naturally as possible (without certification) various grape varieties from the most classic like Mourvèdre or Vermentino to the most unexpected in the region like Merlot or Chenin ! It is with this free spirit that this artisan winemaker, a bit of a poet, produces the wines of Clos Cassivet without any inputs apart from doses of sulphites well below the threshold of Biodynamics. In short, healthy and natural wines, with a strong personality, very different from one vintage to another, and which know how to age wonderfully... An area to discover urgently!
