Presentation of the Zelige Caravent estate – Joli Coeur 2016 – Pic Saint Loup Rouge
Originally, it was a batch of Carignan which was to be blended into another vintage from the Zelige Caravent estate but it was so good that it deserved its own vintage: Joli Cœur ! A natural wine (no inputs or added sulphites) full of fruit and life! The color is deep purple. The nose is very aromatic with black fruits (blackberry, blueberry), spices, wild berries, and more animal notes of leather and fur. All this suggested a powerful and full-bodied wine but it is not the case! The palate is very disconcerting with its generous and crunchy fruitiness, its caressing tannins and a fresh finish! This Joli Cœur vintage from Zelige Caravent is a complex and digestible natural red wine to be decanted before serving to remove its pearly side (wine not degassed to protect it despite the absence of sulphites ).
History of the estate
Grandson of a winegrower, Luc Michel nevertheless decided to work the land without there having been a handover, by creating his estate: Zelige Caravent . Helped by his partner Marie, he works by hand his 23 plots scattered in the scrubland of the Pic Saint Loup appellation, one of the most qualitative sectors of Languedoc. Very concerned about respecting nature, all the vines of the Zelige Caravent estate are cultivated Biodynamically ( Demeter and organic farming certified) and its different vintages are vinified without inputs and without sulphites (residual So2 less than 20 mg/l). A must-see address for all natural wine lovers!
